A room with a view

The view from my front door last week.

My Japanese Maple.

The leaves have been green all year so this was a very nice surprise. You will remember that I am clueless when it comes to plants.

This picture doesn't do it justice at all. The leaves looked like fire.

They didn't stay this way long though. Within a day or so, they turned garnet and fell off.

This has been an amazingly colorful year for leaves... there's a driveway off 27 on the way to my parents' house that had some firey red maples along it for a few weeks!

I think we have Fay to thank for the colors this year. It's been so dry in years previous.

We have three Japanese maple trees in our front yard, one of which is an ornamental (meaning it stays small and sort of has "weeping" branches). I planted the placenta of my children under the two regular trees!
